On Thursday, March 13, 2025, the Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) Board of Commissioners appointed Stacey Smith of Port Orchard as the new District 2 Commissioner. This comes after the retirement of Jim Civilla, who gave 12 years of dedicated service to KPUD, with his last day on February 25, 2025.
Ms. Smith's appointment followed a thorough review process, and she’ll officially step into the role on Wednesday, jumping right in to ensure everything keeps running smoothly for our residents and businesses. She will finish out Commissioner Civilla’s term which runs until December 31, 2026.
"I am excited to welcome Stacey Smith to the KPUD Board of Commissioners,” said Board President, Debra Lester. “Stacey brings a wealth of experience and a passion for serving our community, and we are confident she will be a strong asset to KPUD as we continue to focus on delivering reliable, sustainable services to our customers.”
Currently, Ms. Smith is the Director of Kitsap County's Aging and Long-Term Care. She oversees operations, program development, contract negotiations, and risk assessments. Smith serves on several boards, including the Washington Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Olympic Community of Health, and recently completed a term with the Kitsap County Planning Commission.
The KPUD Board of Commissioners and staff look forward to working with Ms. Smith in her new role and continuing to serve the Kitsap County community with dedication and professionalism.
