KPUD Seeks Applicants for Potential Board of Commissioners Vacancy

Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) is calling for residents of Commissioner District #2 (South Kitsap and parts of Bremerton) to express interest in filling a possible future vacancy on its Board of Commissioners. The appointee would serve the remainder of the current term, ending December 31, 2026, and would need to run in the November 2026 election to continue serving.

The deadline to apply for first round consideration is January 28, 2025, with in-person interviews tentatively taking place the week of February 18–19, 2025. If a vacancy arises, a 15-day notice will be issued, allowing additional applications before the remaining two commissioners appoint a candidate.

KPUD provides vital water, wastewater, and broadband services across Kitsap County. The Board focuses on policy and oversight, including budget approval, rate setting, and strategic planning for growing community needs.

Major upcoming initiatives include:

  • Expanding drinking water and broadband infrastructure.
  • Considering additional system consolidations.
  • Planning for growth and evolving service needs.
