New Data Guides KPUD Planning for South Bainbridge Water System
KPUD’s Board of Commissioners approved a resolution on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to temporarily limit new water connections and reduce peak summer water use in the South Bainbridge Water System. This action is based on updated engineering information and peak outdoor water use in the summer.
A recent engineering capacity analysis and review of source meter data showed that some meters had been over-registering in the past. As a result, available water production had been overestimated. With improved data, KPUD determined that while the system continues to reliably serve existing customers, there is not enough capacity to support additional growth at this time.
To protect water service for current customers and allow time to plan for future supply options, the Board approved a temporary suspension on the sale of new binding water availability letters. Existing customers will also be asked to limit outdoor watering to every other day during the peak summer season, from May 1 through September 30.
