Trailhead Re-Opened – September 26, 2024
The Deerpath Lane NE Trailhead (Bainbridge Island) re-opened for use on September 26, 2024. Thank you for your patience as our contractor poured the cement for the concrete foundations for the three new water tanks. KPUD anticipates project completion in late-2024.

NEW DATE – September 25, 2024
Due to construction, the Deerpath Lane NE Trailhead (Bainbridge Island) and immediate surrounding trail will be closed on September 25, 2024.
Work in the area will begin at 7:00 AM and end by 7:00 PM.
Project Overview
The South Bainbridge Reservoirs Project located at Deerpath Lane is funded in part by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The project is made possible through partnership with Bainbridge Island Land Trust and Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District.
In addition to increasing resiliency, reliability, sustainability, and improving public safety access in the south end of Bainbridge Island, the project also expands trailhead parking with up to 12 additional spaces; provides fenced water infrastructure to enhance public safety; improves access for trail maintenance; re-routes the trail for a better user experience; and helps protect a vital watershed.
Construction Phase
The next phase of construction involves pouring concrete foundations for the three new above-ground water reservoirs. Due to the large size of these foundations and the need to complete the concrete pours in a specified amount of time, work will begin at 7:00 AM and end by 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The trailhead will be closed for the day. Approximately 45 to 50 trucks (4 to 6 trucks per hour) will deliver and pour approximately 440 to 460 cubic yards of concrete. Your safety is important to us, please avoid accessing this area on September 25.
